For Ivy

Yes, I know I disappeared again. Sorry. I'm back now. :)

Anyways, here's a necklace I designed for a friend. I'm in love with this pattern.

Photobucket

It's done in Opera, one of my favorite threads ever. Which, of course, means it's discontinued. The beads are from Wal-Mart. I intend to write up the pattern using a more readily found thread. But I'm just not sure if it will be the same in any other thread. Sad.

Oh well. So what do you think?

  1. Very nice! Those beads give it a very modern look.

  2. I'm an Opera lover too. I'm very sad they ended the line. The beads really set of the necklace.

  3. I hate to lose a favourite thread too. In my case it is the Manuela thread.

Your necklace is very elegant with the beads. Lovely.

  4. It's a very nice pattern - and in my case, it's Cebelia 30 which is being discontinued :(

  5. Really beautiful. You do amazing things with thread.
So sad to hear about your favourite thread being discontinued. They do that all the time to me, too. : (

  6. It's gorgeous! I hope you share the pattern because I'd love to tat it up sometime and share it, too! You did a beautiful job and it looks like something to be cherished!

  7. PS there's something called "Victorian Red" which is similar to that in Lizbeth

  8. Thank you all, for the nice comments. My ego is satiated. :)

@TattingChic: It's not so much the color [though I do love that too] as it is the thread itself. It's very large, for tatting thread, and almost cord-like. Freccia, a line of thread from Handy Hands, is supposed to be comparable, but I don't think it has the same body that Opera has. But at least I got to make something beautiful with the last of my reserves, rather than having it sit in a draw for all eternity.

  9. Absolutely gorgeous! Did you ever get around to writing the pattern. I'd definitely be interested in purchasing.

  10. I've been focusing on finishing up my first book [And it's almost done!], but I am considering offering up this pattern and a few others in a pdf booklet. I'll try to be better at updating this blog so that everyone can stay more informed. :)
